The plan that would eliminate the #24, 28 73, and 33 routes (as well as others around town) has entered a critical public feedback phase and we need every voice!

In a time of good ridership, solid budgets, good economy, climate change, and increased traffic, I really wish our conversation was not about saving public transit in our south Eugene neighborhoods, but improving it for all, but here we are. We can all envision a south Eugene of tomorrow that has an efficient, creative, and useful system for everyone-- unfortunately, LTD's current plans would set us back a very long way from there.

WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW

1) SEND in your very specific, detailed feedback/story on their Transit Tomorrow survey form. Copies can be emailed or mailed if you do not want to do the online form. Consider helping your non-Internet savvy neighbors or those who need help -- everyone's voice counts.

The Transit Tomorrow feedback survey is linked here.

Note LTD's message focuses on their data that suggest only a small minority of patrons would need walk more than a 1/4 mile from their current bus stops to get to a new one -- but note that they don't know how far patrons already walk. Note that they don't seem to understand where we are going either and that the #20 "misses the bus" on both functionality and frequency. Note that they believe the number of "affected" riders would be inconsequential and minimal - worth the sacrifice to get greater frequency on the East/West routes downtown. . Tell them your story with these specifics!

2) SHOW UP to any or all of the following LTD meetings. Public comment is of course encouraged, but even just your presence is extremely valuable. Crowds send a message that we will hold decision makers accountable and we cannot be ignored.

3) KEEP SHARING this petition and starting those conversations with the bus riders next to you! Each signature we gather is valuable to present solidarity, and provides a useful way to keep updates and critical information circulating. Do consider your neighbors who may not use the Internet and network in the ways that you know best!

Thank you for your continued interest and support for public transportation in our neighborhood! Good work, everyone.
