PLEASE KEEP SHARING AND IF YOU RIDE ANY SOUTH EUGENE ROUTE, start conversations on the bus to let everyone know. If you live in South Eugene, you are served by routes #28, #24, #33, and #73. Under LTD's plan that they are "exploring" this plan for potential final vote and adoption in Feb. 19 (if we make noise it may be moved back), all of these routes would cease to exist. They would get combined into a "#20" route (at 20 minute interval pick-ups) that would head south on West Amazon to Fox Hollow, where it would turn and head north on Donald all the way up Willamette to Eugene station. No other service beyond this 20 would be available to get out of South Eugene with this current exploration plan. LTD is quoted as saying that the #28 line has an "optimal" number of riders currently and serves over 1100 people a day. The rationale behind any changes currently being floated is so that more riders in the overall system can get 15 minute service instead of 30 minute service. South Eugene would not only not get 15 minute service, they would get their functional services cut almost completely.
The next step is to FLOOD the Southeast Neighbors Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 12th at 7:00 pm at the Good Samaritan @3500 Hilyard. Specifics are need from you -- HOW this change would impact your daily commute, why you depend on the existing service, how long it currently takes you to get to your destination now and how long it might take with the changes, where you are taking the bus, etc. Also come prepared with any positive suggestions, if possible. Josh Skov and Don Nordin, who are supposed to represent South Eugene on the LTD board will be in attendance and must hear it all. Without our specific input, these ill-advised transit changes will come. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please write to them and tell them your specific story at don.nordin@ltd.org and joshua.skov@ltd.org.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED INTEREST AND SUPPORT IN KEEPING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN SOUTH EUGENE!
