[Jan 1995] - Great Hanshin Earthquake

In 1995, this earthquake damaged the Hanshin area in Japan, causing the death of more than 7000 lives during January. Also, the devastation included the surface level highway that collapsed. 

Can our local highways 'survive such ordeals', in the event such risks were to occur?

[2009]  Earthquake KL 20090930 -  Even in M'sia, there has been earthquakes happening before.  Are our future highways, DASH,SUKE, EKVE, any other high-rise , 3-7 story high ones, able to withstand these > Reichter 3-7 types?
