The Issue

Bring a Basketball Court, Playground, and Community Garden to Pioneer City – Reclaim the Old Pool Lot for Our Kids and Families!

Petition Statement:
We, the residents and supporters of Pioneer City, respectfully call upon our local government and community leaders to hold the property managers accountable and allow us to transform the unused lot where the old swimming pool once stood into a safe, modern basketball court, children's playground, and a community garden for all to enjoy.

Why this matters:
For years, the swimming pool served as a hub for families, youth, and community life in Pioneer City. Since its closure, the lot has remained vacant and neglected—wasting precious space that could bring joy, connection, and physical activity back to our neighborhood.

Our youth need a safe and positive outlet. A basketball court would encourage teamwork, discipline, and fitness. A playground would offer children a place to explore, build friendships, and simply be kids. A community garden would create a peaceful, educational, and nourishing environment where residents can grow food, share knowledge, and build stronger bonds across generations.

Investing in this space means:

Reducing idle time and improving youth engagement
Creating a safer environment by giving kids and teens a space to gather
Reviving community spirit through shared public space
Promoting health and wellness for all ages
Providing access to fresh produce and gardening education through a community garden
Other communities have seen success through similar transformations—why not Pioneer City? We deserve the same.

What we’re asking for:
That the vacant swimming pool lot be repurposed into a triple-purpose basketball court, playground, and community garden, funded through local grants, city budget allocations, or public-private partnerships.

Add your name to show your support and let our voices be heard. Together, we can restore hope, play, and purpose to Pioneer City.
