"It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life, and to have compassion for living creatures." Article 51(G) of the Indian Constitution. The killing of the pregnant elephant in Malapuram in Kerala has sent shock waves throughout the world. This requires an FIR be filed, under relevant sections, to bring the perpetrator of the ghastly act to justice. It is also important that the wildlife officials educate the farmers and villagers to treat animals with compassion and help them device humane ways to resolve man animal conflict. This petition requests Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, and the Kerala Ministry of forest and wildlife to take appropriate action.
