The name of your airport is important so that people flying TO your city or area know exactly where they’re going. It’s that and no more. “Central North Carolina International Airport,” first and foremost, is false advertising (no commercial international flights). It sounds like a lame, politically correct, nebulous result of 1,000 monkeys (or consultants) randomly typing for 10 years to come up with something that would confuse anyone not explicitly familiar with Greensboro’s airport ... the Airport Formerly Known As Piedmont Triad International, which was a bad enough name, but at least had the slight advantage of incumbency. Can we once and for all admit that the only reason our airport (GSO) is not simply called “Greensboro,” has been so that Winston-Salem and High Point were not offended for being left out of the name? If Trump-like grandiosity (throwing in the word “international”) and regional, snowflake neutrality are so important, then it’s time to rename that big arena on the street Formerly Known as Lee the “Central North Carolina International Coliseum.” The consistency with the airport would rock! You cool with that, Nido? Bradley Krantz Greensboro
