What’s international about Triad’s airport? I haven’t lived here long enough to feel justified in arguing about the proposed PTI name change. Suffice it to say that when I moved to Greensboro eight years ago, after 37 years in New England, I understood “Piedmont” to be an area running from New Jersey (where I went to high school) to Alabama. As for the “Triad” part, even to this day, I can understand how a newcomer might confuse “Piedmont Triad” with “Research Triangle.” But what really puzzles me is the “International” part of the airport’s old name. I fly out of what used to be called PTI about a dozen times a year, and I have yet to see any flights going directly to an international destination. Jim Ertner Greensboro
