No matter its name, it’s called Greensboro Whenever I’m checking into an airport on the way home, the ticket counter agent always refers to my destination as Greensboro. The baggage tag reads GSO, the boarding pass reads Greensboro. When I get to the gate, the flight information sign reads Greensboro. When the gate agent starts the boarding process, they announce boarding for Greensboro. Inside the aircraft, the flight crew refers to the destination as Greensboro. When the aircraft nears within 30 to 40 miles of the airport, the pilots are contact Greensboro approach for guidance to the runway and then contact the Greensboro tower for clearance to land. Never, not even a single time, do I recall anyone in the aviation industry referring to the airport as Piedmont Triad International Airport or PTIA. The same will apply for the new name. By the way, there are no scheduled international flights from GSO; the word “international” makes it sound big. They can waste taxpayer dollars with this name change and call the airport whatever they want. However, in the aviation industry and with the flying public, it will still be called Greensboro.
