Pickleball For All

Pickleball For All       Show Up - Make Friends  - Play

City of Burlington's Council, City administration and the Recreation Services Department
 426 Brant Street, P.O. Box 5013
 Burlington, ON L7R 3Z6

We, the undersigned residents and concerned community members of Burlington, call upon the City of Burlington's Council, City administration and the Recreation Services Department to maintain FREE and OPEN access to the pickleball courts at Tansley Woods and Leighland Parks.

  • Pickleball is a uniquely social sport that encourages people to simply show up, play with others, and build community. These courts help foster connection and friendships.
  • .Pickleball is currently available to all age groups and income levels. This booking system will reduce access. The policy is in direct violation of both the Core Values and Guiding Principles of the Recreation Services Department.
  • There are many paid options through private facilities; however, the beauty of these public courts is that they are accessible to everyone. Other recreational sports such as tennis, basketball, soccer, and baseball are not subject to user fees for casual play. We recognize more pickleball courts need to be built at a cost but this is an unnecessary money grab by the City.
  •   The current system works — and what isn’t broken doesn’t need fixing.
We respectfully request  a public meeting prior to the booking process going live,  to hear the city’s reasoning other than  “ a successful pilot at Palmer Park and positive community feedback”. We would like the opportunity to provide additional community feedback.
