The Issue

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the lack of representation and support provided by my union. As a member who has encountered numerous challenges and injustices in the workplace, I expected the union to stand by me and advocate for my rights. However, the reality has been far from this expectation.

The inability to reach the union delegate, the lack of response to my calls and concerns, and the overall disregard for my well-being and rights have left me feeling abandoned and unheard. It is disheartening to see the union fail to fulfill its duty to its members.

The conflict of interest in representing both me and my supervisor, especially when I have ongoing issues with supervision, raises serious concerns about the union's impartiality and commitment to fair representation. The culture of favoritism and emotional decision-making at NYCHA only adds to the existing challenges faced by employees like me.

The lack of support from LOCAL 237 has left me disillusioned and disheartened. In my previous experience with unions, I have witnessed a commitment to standing up and fighting for the rights of workers, a dedication that sorely missed in this situation. 

I question the purpose of paying union dues when the union fails to fulfill its obligations and prioritize the well-being of its members. The renewed contract that seemingly prioritizes financial gains over proper representation only reinforces my disillusionment with the union's actions.

I urge Local Union 237 to reflect on its responsibilities and prioritize the needs and rights of its members. It is essential that the union upholds its duty to advocate for fair treatment, just compensation, and a supportive work environment for all member.
