Physical Media Forever!
The Issue
2026 is shaping up to be a rocky road for the videogame industry. There is a dangerous trend happening right now that has been started by Sony/PlayStation, but is spreading around to other studios as well. Their goal: to completely eliminate physical copies of games by the year 2028, and, it seems that Xbox is already dabbling with this idea as well. You've probably heard the expression going around: 'If purchasing isn't ownership then piracy isn't stealing.' The threat is real as demonstrated by another move that Sony has made (See full story here) to eliminate peoples' purchasing access to movies they bought from Studio Canal, over 500 movies that people have PAID for, gone! With no reimbursement of any kind to the people that paid for them. When you purchase something nobody should have the right or ability to remove or restrict that access from you. This is a dangerous trend that MUST NOT CONTINUE and that is what this petition is all about: for people to stand together and full-send, straight up, rebel against this action. #PhysicalMediaForever #purchaseISownership
The fact of the matter is, the argument isn't about what sells better or who is buying what versus the other, it's about freedom of choice and the protection of preservation of ownership. Your consumer rights are being threatened and it's time for people to take a stand against this.
Our Goals:
- To STOP the cancellation/discontinuation of physical media across all gaming mediums.
- To SECURE the future of physical media as a stand to say: 'to purchase should ALWAYS be to own'.
