Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino is not a sports hero much more an athlete.  In his public life, he has done nothing for the advancement of Philippine sports.

In 1988, the Rizal Multi-Purpose Arena was renamed in his "honor".  At that time, his widow was President.

It is therefore submitted that NAS be renamed for a real Filipino sporting hero or icon, preferably one who is from the City of Manila in Carlos Loyzaga - the best Basketball player of his generation and perhaps of all time who had many of his achievements at the nearby Rizal Memorial Coliseum.  The list of championships he won for San Beda, Yco and the Philippine Team as well as individual honors are too long to list.

Loyzaga represented the country very well as a player and as a coach.  His name has never been tainted with controversy.

The stadium was renovated in time for the recent 30th Southeast Asian Games and the new look is a sight to behold.  The only thing left is a proper name for the sports venue.
