Improve patient treatment & services in Philippine mental hospitals
The Issue
The WHO-AIMS report on the Mental Health System of the Philippines has brought to light the flaws about the Mental Health System that need to be reformed, such as inequity due to linguistic, ethnicity and religious differences. The system must know that healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
One of the problems that are evident is the lack of staff that specialize in the field of psychology is a problem that must be solved. The length of training is also another issue to be addressed. Most staff get only a year of training. With the absence of long term training, it can ruin a patient's experience; and the lack of staff specializing in majors that include the study of mental health could lead to unprofessional work, such as poor handling of uncontrolled outbursts and making treatment increasingly difficult.
This is also evident in schools. Many students or learners are not satisfied with the psychosocial support that the schools provide, mostly because it is usually delivered by teachers and the likes.
For more information feel free to see WHO-AIMS' report on the Philippines' system for mental health.
We strive to help people with mental health disorders/disabilities to get the treatment and experience inside of the mental hospitals better by refurbishing the staff and equipment and the whole facility/environment used.
By signing this petition, it may get acknowledged and will make a better impact for people of the present and future.
