PLEASE HELP YOUR PEOPLE!

Since December 27, 2020, when President Donald Trump signed the newest CoVid Relief Bill extending federal unemployment benefit payments in New Jersey (and other states) for an additional 11 weeks and adding an additional $300 a week to those who receive benefits, 75,000 plus residents of New Jersey have been waiting for their benefits, getting not one penny of help during that time. Today is February 11th, 7 weeks almost since this bill was enacted.  Governor Murphy stated that payments would have no interruption for those who were currently receiving benefits as of December 27th.  This was not true.  Those who were still receiving benefits under the federal 13 week extension after December 27th were cut off, as well as those who expired their benefits before December 27th.  

After media pressure we were told to wait until after we received an e-mail telling us we could again claim.  I, for one, got one of those e-mails Saturday night, February 6th saying the 11 week extension was added to my account and to claim again on my regular claim date.  I tried.  Got an error saying not payable, $0 balance.  Countless others have experienced the same. It's not an individual problem.  It's a systemic problem!

As of today, I'm told out of those 75,000 people waiting on benefits only 6,000 have been able to claim and get paid.  The citizens of New Jersey who are unemployed due to CoVid through no fault of their own need to be paid and they need to be paid now!  I've seen countless people recount how they have lost everything they worked for their entire lives--savings, retirement, homes, cars, etc.,  and are now struggling just to have adequate food on their tables for them and their children! Their credit is being destroyed, they are facing eviction and foreclosure!  This is so wrong, on so many levels!  Most of these people have been hard working New Jerseyians who have paid into unemployment for years, if not decades, and can't work due to no fault of their own.
