There are thousands of elephants languishing in zoos around the world. Several research studies including one by Prof. Bob Jacobs have shown that large mammals such as elephants suffer immensely in captivity. Elephants are known to be extremely social, emotional and intelligent beings and deserve a wild habitat as nature intended them to have. To hold elephants captive in prison like conditions (sometimes even solitary) in zoos is cruel and unethical. Recently the animal charity, Born Free also published an eye-opening report "Legacy of shame" about the plight of zoo elephants.

There is an army of dedicated activists and established organizations around the world fighting to see end of captivity for elephants. While we all are raising our voices in our respective countries and regions, this petition is a collective call to the zoo associations around the world to phase-out elephant collections in zoos ASAP. (Of course we hope this vision would extend to the other animals help captive in zoos as well).

The zoo model is an outdated model, especially in the buzzing tech world we live in today! We do not need education and entertainment based on cruelty towards other inhabitants of the planet. If you love elephants and want to see each and every one free PLEASE sign & share the petition.
