Please sign this submission to PHARMAC to enable Utrogestan to become funded.  Utrogestan is the gold-standard oral progesterone treatment as part of hormonal replacement therapy (HRT).  The benefits of Utrogestan (in conjunction with Oestrogen treatment) include improved wellbeing, decreased hot flushes, decreased menstrual bleeding, decreased risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, colorectal cancer, depression, and psychosis.  It also has a lower risk of breast cancer compared to other progesterone (synthetic progestin) options.

In this year of 2022, it is hard to fathom why 51% of our population is still denied basic affordable and accessible healthcare for such a common condition that is so easily remedied by giving them HRT.  This situation is not only inequitable, it creates further division in our healthcare sector between Māori and Tauiwi, the wealthy and the poor.
