PLEASE go watch the Memphis City council meeting today about the proposed amendment to our ordinances - the one that would prevent Petland from selling dogs/cats in our city.

There is NOT a unanimous consensus to this issue among the council members and some of them DO NOT UNDERSTAND what opening this door might mean. Petland is reaching out to the council members and it is working on some of them that do not understand what this means.
It's been put on agenda for Feb 2nd without a recommendation (!!!) and we MUST reach out to the council to help those that are confused on the issue to truly understand.
I know that Memphis rescues/shelters are all overwhelmed with rescuing the dogs and cats we already have in our community and I cannot for the life of me imagine that any one of them want to see Petland open here.
We cannot let this company get into our community and they are working the council with letters and conversations to convince them to let them in.
We have to write or call every single council member that is confused about why they cannot let Memphis harbor this company (or any other).
Retail sales of puppies/kittens are being banned in other cities.
Proven history of puppy mill sources.
Predatory lending practices
Selling sick animals.
It's not just a care and concern for animals but for Memphis as a whole - do we want to be the ones who are "okay" with letting places like Petland get a foot in our already overwhelmed community?
PLEASE watch the entire video starting at 1:53.:42 and PLEASE email or call every representative - especially the ones who are unclear about this issue.
