It is a very sad good bye from Sarratt Ducklings, as for over 40 years we had the privilege of serving the children and families of Sarratt and the wider community, caring for generations of families.
It has been particularly disappointing for me not to be able to continue nurturing future generations as the successor to Mrs Ingram as we had planned. Unfortunately, our charitable model was not deemed appropriate and without warning we were usurped by a commercial venture.
We live in sad times when progress is measured through profit. However, children do not change, and can never be reduced to a monetary value.
We would like to say a big thank you for all your support over the years and particularly through this very difficult time. Your kind wishes have meant a great deal to us all, alongside the petition started by current parents to understand the accountability of the decision making process.
We will miss all our Ducklings as you ran full pelt into us every morning, eager to meet friends, excited to share experiences and to learn. We all shared the fun and the laughter and we hope that both children and parents alike have appreciated their time with us and will remember us with fondness.
Especially our Nativity “You can sleep in my stable”. The Weather Person. Cooking on a Tuesday. Circle Time. Christmas Party with Mr Marvel and Father Christmas. The Singing Bag. Bug hunting. The orange bikes. Amazing Crafts. Flowers in a Teacup. Around the World with Ducklings. Travelling in Space. The Home Corner. The Farm Shop. Measuring Mrs Ingram in unifix! The Talent Shows. … I could go on, the list is endless, what fun we had!
I am now serving the community beyond the school gates in Sarratt Post Office, where, as some parents have already commented, I am indeed Miss Rabbit!
And finally, to all our many Ducklings, always “Follow the Star” and wherever that may lead you, please remember – “where do you join a queue? … At the back”!!
