Subject: Petition to Unite People, Remove Communal Barriers, and Promote Global Peace through Sarva Dharma Samanvaya, Sanatana Dharma, and Reforms in Reservation Policies

Respected Sir/Madam,

We, the undersigned, submit this petition to request the Government of India to take urgent steps to unite the people of India by removing communal barriers, promoting Sarva Dharma Samanvaya (harmony of all religions), and recognizing Sanatana Dharma as a way of life rather than a religion. We further urge the Government to recognize the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavad Gita as key references for ethical and moral values. We also seek the reform of the reservation system, proposing that it be based on income rather than caste or religion, and call for the removal of caste and religion data collection, which often fuels division for political gains. Finally, we advocate for the promotion of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the belief that the entire world is one family—to work towards global peace.

Rationale for Uniting People and Removing Communal Barriers:

Unity in Diversity: India is a land of diverse cultures, religions, and communities. While this diversity is a strength, it is often misused to divide people along communal lines. The need of the hour is to promote unity, tolerance, and understanding among all citizens, irrespective of their religion, caste, or ethnicity.
Sarva Dharma Samanvaya (Harmony of All Religions): India’s constitution upholds the idea of unity in diversity. Sarva Dharma Samanvaya, the philosophy of harmonizing and respecting all religions, must be promoted. It encourages mutual respect and understanding among people of different faiths, fostering peaceful coexistence and social cohesion.
Eliminating Communal Politics: We urge the Government to take proactive measures to stop the exploitation of religious and caste identities for political gains. Politicians and political parties should be encouraged to focus on people’s welfare rather than dividing them along communal lines.
Recognizing Sanatana Dharma as a Way of Life:

Sanatana Dharma as a Universal Philosophy: Sanatana Dharma is a philosophical and spiritual way of life that encompasses universal values like truth, non-violence, respect for all living beings, and selfless service. Unlike a religion that imposes specific doctrines, Sanatana Dharma is a way of life that transcends religious boundaries, offering wisdom for all people, regardless of their faith.
Promoting Tolerance and Respect: By recognizing Sanatana Dharma as a way of life rather than a religion, India can encourage a philosophy that is inclusive, respects all belief systems, and promotes global peace. It will help reduce the barriers created by religious labels and foster a collective effort toward societal well-being.
Recognizing Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Bhagavad Gita as References for Moral Values:

Ramayana: The Ramayana, an ancient Indian epic, teaches essential values like devotion, loyalty, righteousness, and the importance of family and duty. The moral lessons of Lord Rama’s life can guide individuals toward virtuous living, emphasizing respect for truth and justice.
Mahabharata: The Mahabharata is not just a story of war; it is a profound exploration of duty, justice, ethics, and human relationships. The Bhagavad Gita, a key part of the Mahabharata, provides guidance on living a life of righteousness, detachment, and selfless action. These texts offer valuable lessons for moral conduct and ethical decision-making.
Bhagavad Gita: The Bhagavad Gita is a universal spiritual guide that encourages individuals to perform their duties without attachment to outcomes, promoting inner peace, balance, and wisdom. The teachings of the Gita can be applied by people of all faiths to live a meaningful and ethical life.
Reforming the Reservation System Based on Income:

Income-Based Reservation: We urge the Government of India to consider reforming the reservation system to ensure that benefits are based on economic status rather than caste or religion. This will ensure that those who are economically disadvantaged, regardless of their background, receive the necessary support to improve their quality of life.
Targeting Poverty and Inequality: The current reservation system, while intended to address social inequalities, has often been misused and does not always reach those most in need. Shifting to an income-based system will address the root causes of poverty and inequality, benefiting the truly marginalized sections of society.
Eliminating Caste and Religion-Based Divisions: By making reservation decisions based on income, the Government can help reduce caste and religion-based divisions, fostering a more inclusive society where opportunities are accessible to everyone based on their needs, not their identity.
Removing Data Collection on Caste and Religion:

End the Practice of Dividing People for Votes: We call for an end to the collection of data regarding caste and religion, which often fuels divisions in society and is used for vote-bank politics. People’s religious and caste identities should not be exploited for electoral gain. Instead, the Government should focus on ensuring social welfare for all, irrespective of these factors.
Promoting Inclusivity and Equality: By removing caste and religion from official records, India can move towards a more inclusive society where people are treated equally and given opportunities based on their abilities, contributions, and needs, rather than their religious or caste affiliations.
Promoting Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam for Global Peace:

The Vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, meaning "The World is One Family," is a profound philosophical ideal that teaches us to embrace all people and nations as part of a single global family. This concept promotes peace, cooperation, and the collective well-being of humanity, transcending borders and divisions.
A Path to Global Peace: By promoting Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, India can set an example for the world in fostering international cooperation, conflict resolution, and unity. As a nation, India can lead the global effort to create a peaceful world where people from all backgrounds and cultures work together for the common good.
Proposed Actions:

Promote Sarva Dharma Samanvaya (Harmony of All Religions):
Launch national awareness campaigns on Sarva Dharma Samanvaya to foster respect, understanding, and harmony among people of all faiths.
Encourage educational institutions to teach the values of religious harmony and unity.
Recognition of Sanatana Dharma as a Way of Life:
Acknowledge Sanatana Dharma as a universal philosophical approach that promotes ethical living, non-violence, and respect for all.
Incorporate the teachings of Sanatana Dharma in schools and universities as a source of wisdom for people of all backgrounds.
Implement Income-Based Reservation:
Shift from caste- and religion-based reservation to income-based reservation in education and employment to ensure that the economically disadvantaged receive the support they need.
Ensure that economic criteria are used to identify the truly marginalized and provide them with opportunities for advancement.
Remove Caste and Religion Data Collection:
Discontinue the collection of data based on caste and religion in government records to prevent misuse for political purposes.
Focus on policies that target inequality and poverty without dividing people on the basis of caste or religion.
Promote Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam for Global Peace:
Advocate for the principles of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in international forums and diplomatic efforts.
Promote global peace initiatives and cooperation based on the understanding that humanity is one global family.
Conclusion:

By recognizing the unity of all religions, promoting Sanatana Dharma as a universal way of life, reforming the reservation system to address income inequality, and embracing the concept of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, India can lead the way toward a harmonious and inclusive society. These steps will foster global peace, unity, and shared prosperity for all people, regardless of their background.

We, the undersigned, urge the Government of India to take these necessary actions for the betterment of society and the world.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Sreeram Vithal Poduri
