The Issue

Elephant named Thrippayar Ramachandran aged 45 kept by Cochin Devaswam Board inside the Kokkarany parambu just outside the Vadakkumnathan temple at Thekkinkadu maithanam at the center of the Thrissur town. The right side front leg of the elephant is in a bad position, which compel the elephant to stand in other 3 legs. The left side hint leg has also swelling. The place at which the elephant is tethered  is favourable for the multiplication of various types of bacteria which will affect the living condition of the elephant. Incidentally the Cochin Devaswam Board had failed to appoint a new veterinarian for diagnosis and treatment of elephants for past 1 month. When the Cochin Devaswam Board compelled the previous veterinarian to issue fitness certificate for parading elephants having musth and wounds, he submitted his resignation 1 month ago. Now the living condition of other 3 elephants tethered at that place is also very pathetic.
