I am a member of the Hanover College Swim Team, a dedicated group of athletes who have poured their time, energy, and passion into swimming. Our team not only excels in competition, but it also fosters a sense of community, teamwork, and personal growth among its members. Unfortunately, our program was unfairly and abruptly cut.

The decision to discontinue our team has left us heartbroken, but it has also ignited a fire within us to fight for what we love. We believe that with the opportunity to independently fundraise, we can secure the necessary finances to save our swim team. This initiative is in line with Hanover College's values of initiative, resilience, and community support.

Hanover College Swim Team has consistently demonstrated a positive impact on the college community. Swimming teaches discipline, perseverance, and goal-setting, all of which are intrinsic to student development. Our team consistantly makes a positive impact on our Hanover Community, and HCAC Conference as a whole.

We are asking the Hanover College administration to provide us with a fair chance. Specifically, we need the autonomy to organize fundraising campaigns, ample time to implement them, and the university's support in promoting our cause. With these elements, we are confident in meeting our goal, resulting in the survival of Hanover Swimming.

Research from the NCAA shows that athletics play a significant role in student attraction and retention, influencing institutional prominence and financial health. The Hanover College Swim Team contributes to these outcomes by attracting high-caliber student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. With many of our athletes reciveing academic and spirit awards from the HCAC conference. 

Our request is both realistic and achievable. Other athletic programs have successfully fundraised to remain active and competitive, setting a precedent that we are motivated to follow. We are committed to reaching out to alumni, local businesses, and community supporters to garner the necessary funds.

By signing, you advocate for Hanover Swimming to be reinstated, for Hanover Swimming to have the fight to fundraise for its continuation, and for Hanover College Athletics to be transparent about the discontinuation of athlatic teams.
