The Issue

Town of Fries, Virginia

We, the undersigned residents, patrons, and supporters of local businesses in Fries, VA, respectfully oppose the implementation of a restrictive noise ordinance that would negatively impact community events such as karaoke nights, bike nights, and live entertainment.

Local businesses like Windy River Café play a vital role in our town by:

   •   Bringing the community together

   •   Supporting tourism and local spending

   •   Providing safe, social entertainment

   •   Supporting veterans, families, and small business owners

These events are not just “noise”—they are part of the culture and economy of our small town.

We believe:

   •   Reasonable, balanced guidelines are acceptable, but overly strict limitations will hurt local businesses

   •   Events like karaoke and bike nights are typically limited to certain hours and are not ongoing disturbances

   •   Supporting small businesses strengthens Fries—not weakens it

We respectfully request that the Town Council:

   •   Work WITH local business owners to create fair, reasonable noise guidelines

   •   Consider designated hours for entertainment rather than strict bans

   •   Recognize the positive economic and social impact of these events

We stand in support of local businesses and responsible community events.
