Petition to Stop the Demolition Around Jhandewala Mandir, Karol Bagh

Petition to Stop the Demolition Around Jhandewala Mandir, Karol Bagh
The Issue
To: The Honorable Government of India
We, the undersigned, respectfully submit this petition to immediately halt the demolition of properties surrounding Jhandewala Mandir (Har Shri Nath Ji Dargah) in Karol Bagh, Delhi, and to review all redevelopment plans with full transparency, community participation, and cultural preservation in mind.
Jhandewala Mandir is not just a structure. It is a living symbol of centuries-old devotion, guidance, and community identity. For generations, this Mandir has been a sacred place where devotees have gathered to offer prayers, celebrate festivals, and seek blessings from revered gurus associated with its long spiritual lineage. The temple’s history is woven into the lives of thousands of families, many of whom have deep emotional and cultural roots tied to the surrounding neighborhood.
The current demolition activities around the Mandir not only threaten nearby homes and livelihoods but also risk damaging the spiritual environment, heritage value, and cultural sanctity of this historic site
We humbly request the Government of India and concerned authorities to:
1. Immediately pause all demolition work in the area surrounding Jhandewala Mandir until a detailed assessment is completed.
2. Recognize the Mandir and its surroundings as a heritage and cultural zone, protected from harmful or insensitive construction activities.
3. Consult local residents, devotees, historians, and temple authorities before approving any redevelopment plans.
4. Design an alternative plan that respects both infrastructural needs and the preservation of religious and cultural heritage.
By signing this petition, we stand together to safeguard a sacred site that has guided people spiritually for generations. We believe progress should never come at the cost of erasing cultural identity, history, or faith.
Har Shri Nath Ji 🙏🏻
