The public hearing on the rezoning (March 19 at 6 pm, at the County Office Building, located at 20 North 3rd Street, Lafayette IN 47901) is fast approaching, and we must act NOW. We are conducting this poll to see how many residents can attend in person to speak up against the rezoning and demand a fair process. Your participation is critical!
- Our petition has surpassed 1,000 signatures, showing overwhelming community opposition—but we must keep campaigning to make our voices heard!
- If the rezoning is approved, SK Hynix will move in. Councilor Kathy Parker attended our community meeting, listened to our concerns, and confirmed that SK Hynix has requested to move into this zone if the rezoning is approved.
-Semiconductor packaging is NOT just a warehouse—it involves hazardous chemicals such as epoxy resins, adhesives, soldering materials, and cleaning agents (organic solvents), which release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and pose serious risks to air, water, and public health. Additionally, toxic metals like lead, arsenic, cadmium, and nickel are used in plating, metallization, and soldering, further increasing environmental and health risks.
- Despite 812 petition signatures being included in the APC agenda package, APC staff still recommended approval of the rezoning.
- Without a full environmental study, residents are being forced to accept a blind, high-risk decision that could harm our homes, health, and future.
