Petition to save Welsh Rugby - Urgent reform needed now.

The Issue

Welsh rugby is in crisis. On February 8, 2025, Wales suffered their 14th consecutive loss in the 2025 Six Nations, falling to Italy in yet another humiliating defeat. This is not just a rough patch – this is a complete collapse of our national game.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU), under the leadership of Chief Executive Abi Tierney, has overseen years of mismanagement, failure, and scandal, leading to a broken system that is failing players, fans, and the future of the sport in Wales. The issues go far beyond results on the pitch:

  • No clear player development pathways – young talent is being wasted.
  • Financial mismanagement – funds have been squandered, leaving regions struggling.
  • Lack of leadership and vision – endless reviews and promises of change have led nowhere.
  • Controversies and scandals – trust in the WRU is at an all-time low.

This crisis is not just affecting the national team – the regional game is in ruins too. Years of underfunding, neglect, and poor planning have left our four professional sides unable to compete. Empty stadiums, dwindling fan engagement, and talent leaving Wales for better opportunities elsewhere are clear signs of failure. The WRU’s inability to support and structure the domestic game is crippling Welsh rugby at every level.

The public is not happy. Current and former players are not happy. Welsh rugby is becoming a laughing stock, and the damage being done could take 5 to 10 years to undo.

We demand immediate and sweeping changes at all levels of the WRU. The board, coaches, and leadership, including Chief Executive Abi Tierney, Head Coach Warren Gatland, and Assistant Coach Rob Howley, must be held accountable. If they cannot fix this mess, they must step aside for those who can. We need real change, not more lip service.

Rip it up. Start again. Before Welsh rugby is gone forever.

Sign this petition to demand urgent reform. Stop being the Worst Run Union and become the Welsh Rugby Union once more.
