Our funeral home, a venerable part of Dunbar, Pennsylvania, stands as a testament to the rich history of this community, serving it faithfully since 1902. My family and I have been privileged to take care of this historic institution since 1984, but we are now faced with a debilitating challenge. We have been told that the old public gas line that services our facility needs to be replaced, a task we cannot shoulder alone. Columbia Gas replaced the gas lines throughout Dunbar Borough but has been fighting to abandon our service. We deserve the same service as everyone else. We have been battling Columbia Gas before the PUC and now the PA Commonwealth Court to continue gas services to the Funeral Home. If services are abandoned, it will cost us over $300,000 to convert to electric. The consequence? A piece of history lost and a valuable service to Dunbar, and the surrounding communities, gone. We call on the local authorities in Dunbar, PA, to action for the replacement of the public gas line to our funeral home, an historic establishment whose continuance is vitally connected to the well-being of this community.
