The Issue

Petition to Save Forest High School and Secure a New School Building.

We, the undersigned, call on the Government and the Department for Education to urgently approve funding for a new building for Forest High School.

Forest High School serves a large and important community in the Forest of Dean, including many pupils from areas of significant deprivation. For many families, there are limited alternative education options nearby, and closure or continued deterioration of the site would have a devastating impact on students, parents and the wider community.

Serious concerns have been raised regarding the condition of the current building. Urgent works are required to keep the school operational and safe for pupils and staff.

Students and teachers deserve to learn and work in a safe, modern and inspiring environment. The current situation is unacceptable and risks failing an entire generation of young people in our area. We therefore urge the Government to:

• Approve funding for a new Forest High School building as a matter of urgency;
• Work with local leaders, the school and Gloucestershire County Council to secure the long-term future of Forest High;
• Ensure pupils in the Forest of Dean are given the same opportunities and learning environment as children elsewhere in the country.

Our children deserve better. Children in Cinderford and the Forest of Dean deserve better. Save Forest High School.
