Roblox is frequented by millions of children who use the platform to learn, create, socialize, and play. With that success comes an immense responsibility to those children to protect them from adults who seek to exploit them.

An increasing number of parents have spoken out about the instances of online grooming, inappropriate contact, and adults using anonymous or fraudulent accounts to interact with minors. This would suggest that the guardrails currently in place are not sufficient in protecting minors to the extent we believe they should be. 

While no safety system can eliminate these risks entirely, we feel that stronger safeguards would make it significantly more difficult for predators to gain access to minors

We, the undersigned, are calling on Roblox to strengthen its protections by implementing enhanced identity and age verification for adults wishing to access higher-risk social features or interact beyond child-appropriate experiences.

This would include without being limited to:

 ● Requiring robust age verification for adults before granting access to designated adult social features.

 ● Using device fingerprinting technology in an effort to prevent banned users from creating replacement accounts

 ● Increasing the investment in proactive detection of grooming, exploitation, and predatory behaviour.

 ● Increasing transparency by publishing regular reports outlining child safety efforts, enforcement actions, and improvements.

 ● Continuing to strengthen default safety settings for accounts belonging to minors.

This is not intended to make Roblox inaccessible to children, nor is it intended to burden families with unnecessary registration requirements.

A platform, such as Roblox, that attracts millions of children needs to be held to the highest possible child safety standards.

While we recognize that many adults use Roblox appropriately and responsibly, we must also acknowledge that many others use it to exploit children. They rely on anonymity, disposable accounts, and weak verification processes to do so. 

The above listed measures would create a barrier for those individuals while still allowing legitimate users to continue enjoying the platform.

Children deserve the safest online environment reasonably possible, and parents deserve confidence that every practical measure is being taken to protect them.

Therefore, through this petition and the signatures below, we respectfully urge Roblox to review our proposal to strengthen its adult identity verification and child safety policies in consultation with child safety experts, parents, educators, law enforcement, and digital privacy professionals.

Protecting children online is a responsibility that must be upheld through the highest standards and most stringent safety measures.
