Petition to restore Fairview Homestead for use by all:

The issue

Time is running out for Fairview Homestead...  For over a century, this heritage-listed traditional homestead has been at the heart of the community of Mangrove Creek.  It is the ancestral home of the Andrews family and played a key role in the history of the local community and the Central Coast.

Fairview is a treasured piece of local heritage.  It should be an asset to the Community - a living reminder of the rich history of human occupation of Mangrove Creek, including its indigenous history.  Occupied by tenants until 2002, today Fairview stands on the precipice of demolition by neglect, which is deeply heart-wrenching to witness.

Fairview’s significance is not limited to its historical value but extends to the potential purposes it could serve to our community: as museum, a home, a ranger station, an eco retreat, an artist's residence, bushwalking accommodation or, at the bare minimum, a historical site that communicates its unique heritage and history.  It will serve none of these purposes if it is allowed to be destroyed.

Fairview is the last last remaining example of the settlements and farms along Upper Mangrove Creek.  The Friends of Fairview were able to stop Council proposals to demolish Fairview in 2006, 2007 and 2011.  Since then, little has been done to maintain the heritage-listed property.

Fairview is owned by Council and like other owners of heritage premises in the Central Coast, Council has the obligation to care for and maintain its heritage-listed buildings.  The Friends of Fairview stand ready to support Council in our quest to see Fairview restored and to again serve a valuable purpose for the community of the Central Coast.

We, the undersigned, urge Central Coast Council and the NSW State government to work with the Fairview Homestead Association to restore Fairview.
