Petition to remove the Russian Federation from the UN Security Council

Petition to remove the Russian Federation from the UN Security Council
Why this petition matters

The Russian Federation, by committing an unprovoked invasion of a sovereign nation has broken several articles of the UN charter. Further because they are a permanent member of the UN Security Council they have the power to veto any and all UNSC resolutions pertaining to the dispute between Ukraine and Russia.
Article 27 paragraph 3 of the UN charter states that countries involved in a dispute should abstain from voting on UN resolutions regarding that dispute. Russia has continued to vote in the UN regarding such resolutions in clear violation of the charter.
The precedent for removing a permanent member from the UNSC was set when the Republic of China was replaced by the Peoples Republic of China.
When China's permanent seat on the Security Council was transferred from Taipei to Beijing in 1971, a U.N. General Assembly Resolution recognized a change in legal representation. There was no such Resolution recognizing the transfer of the USSR seat to Russian representatives.
Russia's flimsy claim instead rests upon a letter sent from the Permanent Representative of the USSR to the United Nations, Ambassador Yuli Vorontsov, on Dec. 24, 1991. In this letter, Vorontsov requested that the organs of the United Nations accept credentialed representatives of the Russian Federation in place of USSR representatives. This letter, and its request, was never formally adopted or approved by the U.N. Security Council or the General Assembly.
Russia's seat on the Security council has never been formally approved, or challenged. Now is the time to make that challenge. At the very least they should not have the right to veto UNSC resolutions if they are going to flaunt their ability to violate the UN charter.
Japan, Germany, India, Canada, and Italy all contribute more to the UN than the Russian Federation. All of those countries are peaceful nations, that comply with the UN charter, yet the Russian Federation retains a permanent seat on the UNSC.
The Russian Federation, by its actions over the last several decades, has routinely shown its contempt for the fundamental principles espoused within the UN Charter.
It is imperative that the Russian Federation is removed from the UNSC to enable the UNSC to work to resolve the dispute between the Russian Federation and Ukraine and prevent the genocide of Ukrainian people.
