*NOTICE* *Please use real name and address to be fully counted when petition is in front of legislators. Thank you for your support!* *Any resident from any state can sign* Hemp deserves to have its own legislation and not be buried into the government reopening bill as an unrelated add-on. Hemp was even considered as “essential” here in NC during COVID and stores remained open. Hemp was grown by our founding fathers and has been in US legislation for hundreds of years. If the current legislation remains in place and a year from now hemp is banned, 1/3 of Americans will be directly impacted every single day. We are made up of a diverse crowd of: seniors, cancer patients, moms, dads, nurses, doctors, lawyers, entrepreneurs, professors, etc. I think you get the point that many of us use this plant for recreational and/or medicinal purposes. Hemp can help remedy: pain, anxiety, insomnia, lack of appetite, as well as many other ailments. We want to establish regulatory guidelines to remain in safety compliance while weeding out these "bad actors" who are infringing on trademarks and/or making unclear packaging and bad products. These regulations should be decided upon by those with hemp expertise alongside our legislators. We want the small businesses that currently manage shops to remain in control of the hemp industry. This is good for the local economy in supporting the local farmers and vendors who provide some of these products. It is also important we remain federally legal so we can still have access to the other high-quality products available across the US. Not only do we love to support local, but we love our neighbor states' products too, and this still continues to support the USA. It would be harmful in many ways if the hemp ban language is not struck from Section 781 of the Senate introduced bill and Section 759 from House introduced bill. This ban would: -Cost over 300,000 Americans their jobs. -Destroy a $28B dollar industry -Hurt veterans, seniors, cancer patients, and everyday Americans who use it as their medicine. -Hurt consumers of hemp products, whether for their health and well-being, or just recreationally. -Limit THC concentration to 0.4mg per product container, thus eliminating 99% of the hemp products we consume currently (no mg cap currently in NC, only the 0.3% THC concentration of the entire plant as per the 2018 Farm Bill). This limitation would only leave hemp in the form of building materials, clothing, and other non-consumables. We must act now to strike the current Hemp ban language from the current CR bill that reopened the government. We have been given a year to create new legislation. This should be put in place to keep our beloved hemp products on the shelves and in the hands of the small businesses. Please sign our petition to get Hemp Legislation back in front of the Senators and Representatives so we can move forward with setting up regulations.
