Petition to Protect the Future of Moorcroft Equine Rehabilitation Centre

Save Moorcroft – Restore Good Governance, Transparency and Trust

For more than 25 years, Moorcroft Equine Rehabilitation Centre has been one of the United Kingdom's most respected equine rehabilitation charities. Through the dedication of its staff, volunteers, supporters and donors, hundreds of horses have received expert rehabilitation and care, while countless owners have benefited from its education and guidance.

Today, many supporters believe that this remarkable charity is facing the most serious challenge in its history.

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned by reports of significant governance failures, a lack of transparency and accountability, and decisions that many believe place the future of the charity at risk. We are also concerned by allegations that have been raised with the appropriate authorities regarding the management of the charity. We recognise that these matters should be investigated through the proper regulatory processes.

Our concern is not driven by personalities or individual disputes. It is driven by a shared commitment to protecting the horses, safeguarding charitable assets, preserving public trust and ensuring that Moorcroft can continue its vital work for future generations.

We believe that every charity should be managed in accordance with the highest standards of honesty, integrity and governance, particularly where public donations and animal welfare are involved.

We therefore call upon the Charity Commission for England and Wales to:

• Conduct a thorough and independent investigation into the governance and management of Moorcroft Equine Rehabilitation Centre.
  To enforce the production and filing of the accounts for the Charity up to 30/6/2025 which should have been filed by 30/6/26 as filling of these accounts is a legal requirement.
• Ensure that the Charity appoint more Trustees who have time and skills to give.  The Current Board have all stated in writing that they all have ‘substantial responsibilities outside of the Charity and that they are not available on demand’ therefore they should not be Trustees.
• Ensure that any evidence of breaches of charity law or trustee duties is fully considered.
• Take any regulatory action that is appropriate to protect the charity, its assets, its beneficiaries and the public interest
• Help restore transparency, accountability and confidence in the governance of Moorcroft.
• Support a sustainable future in which the charity can once again focus entirely on its charitable mission and the welfare of the horses in its care.
  Moorcroft has been built over decades through the generosity, commitment and hard work of thousands of people. We believe its future deserves to be protected.
