Save Our Childcare: Protect Families, Fight Rising Costs!

To All Dedicated Childcare Workers, Owners, Parents, and Advocates,
Did you know Texas is making decisions that could drive up childcare costs and limit your choices? The state is expanding free pre-kindergarten in ISDs while ignoring private childcare centers—the very places built with love, expertise, and dedication. Now, Texas has approved vouchers but excluded licensed childcare centers, further threatening their survival. If we do not act, families will soon have no options, rising tuition costs, and less flexibility for working parents. This is a fight for our children, our families, and our right to choose quality care.

The Crisis at Hand:

Childcare Centers Are Under Threat – Private childcare centers have long been the cornerstone of early childhood development, held to rigorous standards that ISDs are not. Yet, funding disparities are pushing these essential businesses toward closure.

Unequal Funding & Forced Choices – Public schools receive tax dollars to expand pre-K, yet private childcare centers receive nothing. Families are left with no choice but to enroll in ISD programs, even if they prefer a private center. If funding exists, it should be fairly distributed.

A Slippery Slope – The Future of Childcare Is at Risk – Today, ISDs are absorbing 3- and 4-year-olds. Tomorrow, they could take infants and toddlers, systematically dismantling private childcare. If this happens, families will lose choices, and competition will disappear, leaving no alternative when ISDs fail to meet children’s needs.

The Financial Impact on Families:

As private childcare centers disappear, families will face skyrocketing tuition costs, fewer personalized options, and diminished flexibility for working parents. Without competition, ISDs will dictate the quality, cost, and accessibility of early education. This is not just a business issue—it’s a family crisis.

Our Call to Action:

Demand Equal Funding for Licensed Childcare Centers – If ISDs get tax dollars for early childhood education, private centers should, too. Parents deserve options!

Stand Up for Parents’ Rights – Families should not be financially forced into ISD pre-K just because it’s free while their preferred, high-quality childcare centers struggle.

Rally Together and Be Heard – We have until March 6th to gather 50,000 signatures before we take this fight to Austin. If we don’t act now, it will be too late.
