Petition Regarding Political Intimidation Within Diaspora Communities
To Government Authorities, Law Enforcement Agencies, and Human Rights Institutions in Canada, the United States, Europe, and other democratic nations:
We are writing to express serious concern regarding reported incidents of political intimidation and coercion affecting members of Iranian diaspora communities in democratic countries, including Vancouver and other cities.
Multiple testimonies and community reports indicate that certain organized individuals identifying as Iranian monarchists and supporters of Reza Pahlavi have allegedly engaged in coercive tactics aimed at silencing dissenting voices within the diaspora.
Reported behaviors include:
Pressuring business owners to display monarchist flags or political symbols
Demanding that individuals post specific political content on social media
Requiring the wearing of monarchist symbols at public events
Pressuring individuals to publicly declare loyalty to Reza Pahlavi
Organizing harassment campaigns, boycotts, or threats against those who refuse
Those who decline to comply have reportedly faced intimidation, defamation, economic pressure, and coordinated harassment.
This petition does not seek to support or oppose any political figure, including Reza Pahlavi, nor does it take a position on monarchy versus republicanism. Political preference is a personal and protected choice.
However, no individual or group — regardless of ideology — has the right to impose political beliefs through threats, harassment, or coercion.
Democracy is built on voluntary participation, pluralism, and the rule of law not forced conformity.
We respectfully call upon governments and relevant authorities to:
Publicly affirm that political intimidation within diaspora communities will not be tolerated
Investigate credible reports of coordinated harassment or coercion
Enforce existing laws protecting individuals from threats and economic intimidation
Establish accessible reporting channels for victims
Ensure equal protection under the law for all individuals, regardless of political belief
Under Section 2(b) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, and Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, every individual has the right to freedom of expression and belief without intimidation or coercion. Criminal laws in democratic countries prohibit threats and coordinated harassment.
These protections must be consistently enforced to safeguard the safety and democratic rights of all.
. We stand for freedom of expression.
. We stand against political coercion.
. We stand for the right of every individual to choose their beliefs freely and safely.
