Petition to Prioritize Field Access for Local Non-Profit Youth Programs
Petition to Prioritize Field Access for Local Non-Profit Youth Programs
The Issue
Dear Senator Addabbo,
We, the undersigned parents of the Excelsior Youth Soccer Academy, Our Lady of Grace CYO soccer program, Holy Child CYO soccer program, and residents of South Queens, are writing as your constituents to respectfully urge you to prioritize the allocation of field usage permits for Southern Fields to local non-profit youth programs.
As members of this community, we believe that our local athletic facilities should first and foremost serve the children and families who live here. Local non-profit youth organizations are essential to youth development, providing structured, supportive environments where children learn teamwork, discipline, and leadership while staying active and engaged.
Prioritizing these programs ensures increased opportunities for local youth. When fields are accessible to community-based organizations, more children can participate without barriers related to cost, travel, or limited availability. This helps create a more inclusive environment where all families have the chance to benefit.
These programs also foster community connection by hosting games, tournaments, and events that bring residents together. Through partnerships with local schools and clubs, they strengthen the broader youth ecosystem and maximize the impact of community resources.
Additionally, local non-profit programs are committed to responsible and organized facility use, with clear oversight, scheduling, and accountability that ensures fields are well-maintained and used appropriately.
We strongly believe that granting priority access to these organizations will benefit our community by:
• Providing additional opportunities for local athletes to train and compete
• Creating positive programming that promotes health, fitness, and teamwork
• Hosting community events and matches that bring residents together
• Ensuring the field is used in an organized and responsible manner
As your constituents, we ask that you support policies that prioritize local non-profit youth programs in field usage decisions. Doing so is an investment in our children, our families, and the strength of our community.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and service to our community.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Residents and Parents of South Queens
