Petition to PreventCity from Taking W'Ford Lake Marina from lifelong resident-Randy Plyler
The Issue
The City is preparing to make a decision that could permanently impact one of Weatherford’s longtime local businesses and a family that has been part of this community for years.
On May 28 at noon, the Utility Board is scheduled to vote on a proposal that would remove a major portion of Randy Plyler’s business operations at Weatherford Lake Marina — including the boat slips, beach, and Crappie House — without compensation for the loss.
Removing these operations would eliminate nearly 50% of the business’s revenue, placing the future of the bait shop and Tavern on the Lake at serious risk and potentially forcing them to close.
This issue is about more than one business. It is about protecting the local establishments, traditions, and community connections that make Weatherford special.
For years, Weatherford Lake Marina has served residents, families, anglers, and visitors as a gathering place and part of the identity of the lake community. Decisions that affect small local businesses should be made with fairness, transparency, and consideration for the people whose livelihoods are at stake.
We, the undersigned, respectfully ask the Utility Board and City leaders to:
- Reconsider the proposal affecting Weatherford Lake Marina
- Work toward a fair solution that does not devastate a longtime local business
- Provide transparency and meaningful dialogue with the Plyler family and the community
- Consider the economic and community impact this decision will have on Weatherford residents and visitors alike
We also encourage all concerned citizens to attend the Utility Board meeting on May 28 at noon and make their voices heard.
Please stand with Randy Plyler, his family, and the businesses that have been part of the Weatherford community for generations.
