PETITION UPDATE: VICTORY DECLARED
Today, I’m officially closing the petition — and I’m calling it a success because we got results.
We had a productive meeting with the GM of LEX 18. I want to thank him for taking the time to give us a tour of the station, sit down with us, hear our concerns, and most importantly, take measurable action.
Our petition asked for one of two things: turn the comments off or better moderate the comment section.
We got the latter.
LEX 18 is taking steps to improve moderation of the comments on its Facebook page. This will be an ongoing effort, and meaningful change won’t happen overnight. So please be patient, continue reporting comments that slip through the cracks, and hold the process accountable.
We’ll also continue working with LEX 18 as these efforts move forward.
This is what community engagement is supposed to look like: identify a problem, organize around it, bring it to the table, and work toward a measurable solution.
To everyone who signed, shared, spoke up, or supported the petition — thank you. Your voice mattered.
The petition ends today because its purpose was to produce action.
Mission accomplished. Victory declared.
