MEETING WITH LEX 18 MANAGEMENT WEDNESDAY

Demetrius ClayborneLexington, KY, United States
Sep 19, 2026

Our voices are being heard.

Following our call for LEX 18 to address racist, bigoted, and harmful commentary appearing in its Facebook comment sections, LEX 18 General Manager Sean Franklin has requested a meeting with me.

That meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 at 1:00 PM at WLEX.

I will be bringing the concerns raised through this Change.org petition directly to station management, along with documented examples and proposed solutions for creating a safer, better-moderated space for community discussion.

Our request remains straightforward: If LEX 18 does not currently have sufficient resources to consistently moderate its Facebook comment sections, pause the comments until an effective system is in place.

This is not about eliminating disagreement or restricting legitimate criticism. Lexington should be able to debate difficult issues without racism and bigotry being treated as an acceptable cost of participating in the conversation.

I appreciate LEX 18 management agreeing to sit down and discuss the issue. The goal of Wednesday’s meeting is not confrontation—it is accountability, solutions, and measurable action.

Please continue signing and sharing the petition before Wednesday. Every signature demonstrates that this concern extends beyond one individual and deserves serious consideration.

I will provide another update following the meeting.

MODERATE IT — OR PAUSE IT.

Thank you to everyone who has signed, shared, and spoken up.
