THE RECALL IS GROWING: Nearly 100 New Signatures Since the General Membership Meeting

Our recall petition has officially been received by SEA.  On August 24, SEA Transitional Executive Director Greg Alarid confirmed in writing:

“Thank you for clarifying. This acknowledges receipt of your petition.”

And since the August 26 General Membership Meeting, the petition has gained nearly 100 additional signatures in a remarkably short period of time.  Members are continuing to sign, share, and speak for themselves.

One new SEA member left this comment on the petition:

“I am new to SPS and the state; 8/26/2026 was my first SEA meeting. I feel our president's agenda was personal and not in the group's best interest. This is not who I want representing me or my fellow educators.”

Also on August 26, the parents of a child whom the SPS investigation found was “more likely than not” harmed in Idowu’s classroom addressed the SPS School Board.  They told the Board they were on “day 260 of waiting on SPS to act on behalf of its students and their safety.”

Their testimony begins at approximately 36:10 (click link here).  After calling for stronger mandatory-reporting protections and enforceable investigation timelines,  they concluded their remarks with a direct demand:

“Idowu must be terminated and her license revoked.”

These are separate processes, but members deserve to know what is happening in both.
