As a concerned American citizen, I have firsthand witnessed the struggles endured by my fellow compatriots, which have only worsened since President Joe Biden assumed office. His administration's actions have led to a series of controversies, many of which have had dire consequences for our nation’s security, economy, and global standing.

Since taking office in 2021, President Biden has overseen a significant increase in illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border. In 2021 alone, U.S. Customs and Border Protection reported record numbers of encounters with undocumented immigrants (Pew Research Center, 2021). Critics argue that Biden’s policies—marked by the reversal of certain hardline immigration measures from the previous administration—have encouraged illegal crossings, weakened border security, and allowed dangerous criminal activities to flourish. The administration’s inability to properly vet and control this surge in immigration raises concerns about the safety and welfare of American citizens.

Furthermore, Biden's role in the 1994 Crime Bill, which has been criticized for contributing to mass incarceration and disproportionately affecting minority communities, shows a troubling history of flawed decision-making. This legislation, while aimed at curbing crime, has long been criticized for creating social harm that reverberates even today (NAACP, 2019). This raises questions about Biden’s judgment in shaping policies that impact vulnerable populations.

Biden’s leadership failures were further exemplified in the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. The hasty and poorly planned evacuation left American citizens and allies stranded and directly contributed to the deaths of 13 U.S. service members. The humanitarian crisis that unfolded in the wake of this withdrawal also damaged America’s international standing and drew widespread condemnation (BBC, 2021).

In addition, Biden's controversial COVID-19 vaccine mandates created friction among Americans, with many losing their jobs or facing difficult choices regarding vaccination. Critics argue that the mandates overstepped government authority, infringing on personal freedoms and destabilizing the workforce at a critical time (The New York Times, 2021). The economic ramifications of these mandates have left many questioning whether Biden’s pandemic response prioritized the right balance between public health and individual rights.

Ethical concerns have also dogged Biden, especially regarding his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings in Ukraine and China. While these allegations have yet to result in definitive legal action against the President, they have fueled suspicion and eroded public trust in his leadership (The Wall Street Journal, 2021). The potential conflicts of interest stemming from these dealings are alarming and demand further investigation.

Biden’s record, from his early political career to his presidency, reveals a pattern of questionable decisions that have jeopardized national security, eroded public trust, and undermined key democratic values. The essence of democracy lies in the equality and freedom of its citizens, and any misuse of power that endangers these rights must be addressed.

We, the undersigned, call upon Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Joe Biden. His administration’s failures—ranging from mismanagement of border security, mishandling of foreign policy, overreach in public health mandates, and potential ethical violations—represent a direct threat to the safety and welfare of the American people and the integrity of our democracy.
