Petition to End Inhumane Detention Practices and Federal Raids Targeting Our Communities
The Issue
We, the undersigned, demand an immediate end to the violent, traumatic detention practices unleashed on our community during the recent raid in Colorado Springs. This isn’t just about crime. It’s about fear. It’s about blurring the line between immigration enforcement and public safety. It’s about using overwhelming force to mask uncertain evidence. And it’s about quietly normalizing the idea that human beings can be exiled without real scrutiny, without due process, and without concern for what happens next.
Over 300 officers from 10+ agencies stormed an after-hours nightclub, detaining over 100 people — yet only two had warrants. This was not about safety. This was about power, fear, and control. This was a misuse of power. It was not about public safety — it was about control.
This raid traumatized families, retraumatized survivors of violence, and sent shockwaves of fear across our neighborhoods. It was a gross misuse of taxpayer funds and a violation of human rights.
This was not law enforcement.
This was terror.
These families are not strangers. They are our neighbors, friends, workers, caregivers, and small business owners. They are the people who sustain our economy, enrich our culture, and nurture our city’s future. Colorado Springs is their home.
The people targeted are the very families who have built Colorado Springs. Their labor, culture, and taxes have shaped this country — and yet, our own public funds were weaponized against them.
These raids cause lasting trauma: tearing families apart, retraumatizing those who have fled violence, and sowing fear across entire neighborhoods. They are an assault on human dignity and community trust.
We demand:
- Immediate investigation into the raid and its abuses.
- Release and protection of those detained.
- An end to militarized immigration enforcement.
- A reinvestment in community healing, not community harm.
We will not stand by while our neighbors are hunted and terrorized.
We demand justice now.
