The Issue

Stop Evri’s Unreliable Deliveries — Demand Better Parcel Security and Accountability

We, the undersigned, call on online retailers, businesses and the UK’s regulators to stop using Evri (formerly Hermes) for consumer deliveries until Evri implements urgent, independently verified improvements to its delivery practices.

Why we are asking for this

  1. Repeated instances of parcels being recorded as “delivered” with photos or GPS coordinates that do not match the recipient’s address, leaving customers without their purchases. (Many reported cases across consumer forums and review sites.)
  2. Numerous complaints from customers and sellers about lost or stolen parcels, poor tracking transparency, and slow or inadequate customer service responses when parcels go missing.
  3. Independent reporting and whistleblower accounts alleging mishandling and operational failings that have left customers out of pocket and disrupted deliveries. The Telegraph
  4. Mishandling of parcels through lack of facilities and lack of care. see image of our local depot car park here. Nobody was around meaning I could have taken any of these without being seen. Also the ground was wet and it was spitting with rain at this precise moment.

What we demand

  1. Immediate suspension of Evri as a default delivery option by major online retailers and marketplaces until Evri demonstrates verifiable improvements.
  2. An independent audit of Evri’s delivery operations and security practices (including driver vetting, depot controls and parcel handling).
  3. A transparent and verifiable photo & GPS policy: photos used as evidence must be timestamped and geotagged to the recipient address, and retailers must accept such evidence before closing a “delivered” complaint.
  4. Clear, fast compensation and redress procedures applied by both Evri and contracted retailers when parcels are lost or wrongly delivered — including faster replacement or refunds for customers and clarity for sellers.
  5. A public, time-bound improvement plan from Evri, independently verified, showing how parcel losses, wrong-address photos and customer service failures will be fixed.

Actions petitioners support

  • Withholding future purchases from retailers that continue to use Evri as a default courier until they can prove Evri meets the demands above.
  • Calling on the Competition & Markets Authority, Trading Standards and relevant retailers to investigate systemic issues and enforce better consumer protections.

This petition will be delivered  to: Evri, retailers relying on Evri for deliveries as default with no other options, the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA), our local MPs and national consumer bodies (e.g., Citizens Advice).
