Petition to arrest all persons who tortured the wounded elephant to carry the main idol

The Issue

Enclosed here with is the photograph of Cherplachery Rajasekharan which was forced to carry main idol at Edathirinjhi Subhahmanya Swami Temple near Irinjalakuda in Thrissur District of Kerala State. The photograph of clicked when the elephant was brought from Palakkad District to Edathirinji temple at around 10.00 am to 20th February 2016 for diagnosis by Veterinary doctor P B Giridasan. The elephant was adjudged fit for festival procession by that doctor despite the elephant having a deep wound above the hind leg. This elephant is the second largest elephant at that festival ground. At around 4.00 PM the tallest elephant Thechikkottukavu Ramachandran ran amok at that festival ground, the police and forest officials took a decision to allow Cherplachery Rajasekharan to carry the main idol of that temple. This type of blatant violation of PCA Act 1960 at that festival ground occurred under the eyes of all the officials of the police, forest and animal husbandry department of Kerala. Even though the Thechikottukavu Ramachandran is a blind elephant, these officials have taken a decision to allow it to carry the main idol upto 4.00 PM on that day. This type of violating elephant parade rules is repeated in Kerala on a daily basis. I expect that this type of violations of Elephant Parade Rules must be penalized at the earliest.
