There was a meeting last night at the Brown county law enforcement center where both sides of the issue were able to state their case. There was a 32/23 count in favor of keeping the shotgun restrictions and not following the states ruling to allow centerfire rifles. The count was just a hand raised vote by the people attending the meeting and not the final ruling. The county officials are going to go over all the information they have and make a vote one way or the other. By the sounds of it, many people were hearing about a 60/40 split in favor of keeping the shotgun restrictions.

While most of the county officials acknowledged that based on the published scientific data available, Centerfire rifles are safer, most of the opposition to allowing centerfire rifles stated that they felt that they were not as safe and stray bullets would be flying everywhere. Unfortunately, this appears to be a case of many folks making decisions based on feelings vs facts.

I would encourage anyone who signed this petition to share it with anyone you know that would be willing to sign. We still may have a few days to show support for this issue. We have been fighting for years to get this passed in southern MN. Don't let this one get away!
