The Issue
Update: We’ve been in contact with iPickle owner, John Letts, and are happy to share that he has decided to allow the use of pickleball carts and ball machines and has removed the six-ball limit rule. iPickle will also be reviewing and updating the facility guidelines to provide clearer direction on when and how ball carts and machines can be used. Thank you to everyone who supported and shared the petition—your voices truly made a difference! *********************************************
This petition calls for the reversal of the recent restrictions placed on the use of pickleball carts and ball machines at iPickle facilities. Recently, a notice was posted at the Cerritos iPickle location prohibiting the use of ball carts and limiting players to just six balls per court. This rule was implemented without consulting the iPickle community and has negatively impacted regular members who rely on these tools to practice and improve their skills. While we understand the intent may have been to discourage unauthorized coaching, this blanket restriction unfairly penalizes everyday members who have invested in equipment like ball carts and ball machines for personal development. Suggested Solution: We propose that iPickle staff monitor members as they enter the facility to determine whether carts and ball machines are being used by iPickle members or by coaches / instructors. If an individual is a coach / instructor, they must first register with iPickle and pay the appropriate coaching / instructor fees. Verified iPickle members should be allowed to bring in and use their training equipment—such as carts and ball machines—during their reserved court times. This approach ensures fair use of the facility, respects the needs of dedicated members, and still enforces accountability for coaching activity. We respectfully request iPickle leadership to consider this more balanced and community-focused policy.
