As a collective of hardworking truckers and trucking companies, Truckers Let's Take A Stand has witnessed firsthand how the 12% Federal Excise Tax (FET) is causing financial strain across America. Our livelihoods, families, and communities depend on reliable trucks to keep our operations running smoothly. However, with the current burden of 12% FET, we are losing profit at an alarming rate, forcing some of us to shut down operations.

When our costs are higher than we can afford, we have to pass them down to the consumer, which raises the cost of goods and overall inflation. 

The Federal Excise Tax adds 12% to the retail sales of every new truck, tractor, trailer, and tire. This extra cost prevents us from upgrading to newer, environmentally cleaner, and safer trucks. 

Right now, we have a bill introduced in Congress that, with the proper support, can eliminate the 12% Federal Excise Tax once and for all. The bill is called H.R.1440 — Modern, Clean, and Safe Trucks Act of 2023.

We urgently implore lawmakers to consider the severe hardships we face in this industry and the ripple effect it has on the economy when making decisions about taxation laws. The time for action is now. We call for immediate measures to eliminate the 12% Federal Excise Tax that is directly and detrimentally impacting us.
