So much history is being brought to our eyes in the wake of our fallen brothers and sisters brutally murdered by racist criminals. Our children need to be made aware of holidays that are important to celebrate them and help them feel appreciated in a world where they can grow up being a target based solely on the color of their skin. I petition our higher officials to declare Juneteenth a National Holiday and to sign it into law! For a little history, there aren’t very many National holidays for black people. Black history month should be extended beyond just one month, especially due to the fact that this country was literally built off the backs of us! We have thrived and proven that success isn’t too far from our reach, yet we are constantly targeted for the erasure of our success. Adults are often so focused on trying to create the world of their dreams, let’s work together towards creating a better, happier, and safer world to leave behind to our children!
