Petition to Rename Stokes Road to Levi Lane

We are calling upon our local officials and the Holladay, Tennessee community to rename Stokes Road to “Levi Lane” in honor of my little brother, Levi, and the countless survivors whose lives were irrevocably altered by the trauma attached to this name.

Levi was only 18 years old when we lost him. We have now endured his first birthday without him here beside us. He should be 19 today. Forever 18 on this earth. Forever loved beyond measure.

Levi was incandescent — vibrant, magnetic, wildly passionate about life, and overflowing with untapped potential. He possessed the kind of spirit that could illuminate an entire room. He deserved a future rich with possibility, healing, laughter, adventure, and peace. Instead, that future was catastrophically stolen from him.

After the devastating loss of our sister, Levi became vulnerable to manipulation and abuse at the hands of a man who was supposed to embody trust and safety. Rather than being protected, he was retraumatized by a process that forced him to confront profoundly personal pain beneath the unforgiving scrutiny of a small town where anonymity evaporates quickly and whispers travel mercilessly.

The psychological burden Levi carried became inescapable.

Now, every single drive down Stokes Road feels like reopening a wound that never truly heals. That sign is not merely a road marker to our family — it is a glaring monument to grief, trauma, injustice, and the devastating consequences of institutional failure. My daughter will grow up without her uncle. Our family will forever carry the ache of birthdays uncelebrated, milestones unmet, and memories that should still be unfolding in real time.

Renaming this road to “Levi Lane” would not eradicate the anguish left behind, nor would it resurrect the life we lost far too soon. But it would transform a symbol of devastation into one of remembrance, dignity, compassion, and communal accountability.

Communities reveal their values through the names they preserve and the stories they choose to immortalize. We should not continue commemorating a name associated with immeasurable suffering when we have the opportunity to honor a young man whose life radiated authenticity, tenderness, resilience, and humanity.

This petition is not solely for Levi. It is for every survivor who has ever felt silenced, exposed, abandoned, or consumed by shame. It is for every family left navigating the wreckage of preventable trauma. And it is for every child who deserved protection instead of pain.

We implore our local leaders and fellow community members to stand beside us in honoring Levi’s memory by renaming Stokes Road to Levi Lane.

Forever 18. Forever cherished. Forever Levi.
