Good Morning Bahlali
The other day, I wrote to you and invited you to join us in our fight to get Parliament to Fix the Service Delivery Crisis by Fixing Municipal Funding. Many of you responded positively. Thank you.
Yesterday, we presented our proposal to Parliament, and shared your responses as part of that, but the fight is not over. On Friday, National Treasury will respond to all submissions made, including ours. Thereafter, next Tuesday and Wednesday, the Finance Committees will deliberate to answer the question “what is to be done?” After that, the process moves to another set of committees where the final budget allocation decisions will be made. We will be there, too.
If you missed the survey, not a problem. We’ve extended the deadline to Friday, 5pm, so we can have as rich a dataset as practicable, and incorporate as many views as possible in our advocacy on the issue.
- Take two minutes and share your views anonymously on the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/N8bSm0bsRr
- You can read our post-presentation statement, capturing what we told Parliament here: https://fightingforbetter.substack.com/p/bgi-presents-a-proposal-to-parliament
- You can watch the Presentation, beginning at 5:38:02, here: https://www.youtube.com/live/djYjYiRVPKU?si=1ZRO5O5nPWYVU78t&t=20282
Thank you again for being part of our efforts to push for better governance for all South Africans. And, yes, in the coming weeks and months, we will be re-engaging the issue of the credit regulations because much needs to be done there, too, and government intends to bring the issue back.
Best Regards,
Sabelo
