Hello all, I hope you are staying warm with the weather changes as we head into the holiday season! FIRST and foremost, please know we are still waiting to hear when the Planning Board will render its decision regarding a change to the Comprehensive Plan that would allow Villadom mall to be built. Over the past few months, the Planning Board received some property appraisals from the developer and counter-appraisals from a legal team fighting the rezoning. We hope the Board will meet to vote soon. Second, something IMPORTANT is happening THIS WEDNESDAY that will set further legal precedent for rezoning our R40 properties: There is a Huntington Town Board Meeting this Wednesday, December 7, at 7 pm that will vote on rezoning Bissett nursery currently zoned R40 along Deer Park Avenue for Brightview Senior Living. Neighbors who live near this site are seriously worried about the many variances the developer has requested and the proximity of the large building and its waste treatment facilities will be to residential homes. Please, if you can be there, help voice opposition this rezoning. It is very necessary for the board members to see a strong showing of residents/voters staunchly opposed to this project. In addition, via email - you can send each of the Town Board Members a short statement which includes your name and address stating your opposition to a CHANGE OF ZONE and BRIGHTVIEW (email addresses listed below). Please help show that Huntington residents are opposed to rezoning properties for out-of-town companies to threaten our quality of life.
